Tube coral sponges are very interesting marine inhabitants. They provide shelter for fish and small marine animals. But the main role of coral sponges is to filter the water. They can filter up to 20000 times their volume in water per day. Tube corals are one of the oldest life forms. Some of their fossils date back 600 million years.
I painted this purple tube coral sponge as a part of The Aquatic Life Collection. I used acrylics on very weight Canson paper (400 gsm) in a semi-abstract watercolor style.
This large square contemoporary painting will look great in a modern interior almost in every zone: dining, above sofa, bedroom, etc.
